• You may hear self-discipline and picture all the hard work it takes. And yes, you will be correct, but self-discipline also means freedom. If you’re scratching your head right now, let me explain: self-discipline allows you to take control of your life by doing things that will benefit you. Here are some of benefits you will receive when living a life of discipline:

Controlling The Direction Of Your Life- Being discipline gives you the ultimate control over your life. Having the self-discipline to get up early and get after it without nobody pushing you will only lead to growth. Attacking your goals with your all will put you in the driver’s seat.

Better Health- Being discipline will lead you to overall better health. The undisciplined will pay no mind to their health, and slowly decline over time because of it. When you decide to be self-disciplined you will make sure to carve out time for workouts, sleep, and proper nutrition. These 3 key elements to health can make a big impact on how well you live.

Finance Management- Being discipline equals to improving your finances. Managing your money is essential for your financial security. Without self-discipline your money can come and go with not much to show for it. This is a broke mindset and one you should avoid. Self-discipline is the cure for your financial troubles, which can reinsure you save and invest more or at least as much as you spend.

Improve Relationships- Being discipline will improve all your relationships in life. Making time for our friends and significant other takes disciplining your time properly. We all live busy lives and tend to forget about our close relationships. When we lose touch with our relationships, those closest to us distant themselves away from us. When we do need those people, they’re not around, self-discipline ensures you keep in touch with them no matter how small that time may be.

Self-discipline improves not just these, but every other aspect of your life. The benefits are endless and you will be wise to master your discipline.

  • Not everything in life would or should be comfortable. When you live in too much comfort, you will never grow.

It’s when the muscles are pushed during a workout that they begin on the pathway to growth.

    Everything in life works similarly.

When things start to get a little uncomfortable, and you come on the vague to quit, something else must be stronger.

    That something is called Discipline.

Discipline is the bridge that gets you from point A to point B. And that in between is never easy, it’s a hard, and a rough road to travel.

This road must be traveled, it’s no way you can get by it. Without that bumpy road, the end result is not as satisfying.

Your Goal This Week: Find what you been undisciplined in, write down what makes it so uncomfortable that you seemingly avoiding it. Now, make a point to attack that discomfort. Put it in your head that you are going to get it done no matter what. You hold the power to be discipline, and make that your identity.

  • As the weekend is approaching here’s a quote that should keep you focus.

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step”- Martin Luther King Jr.

We can find ourselves stuck and unable to see what our future holds. MLK is stressing the point that we don’t need to know, but do need to start moving forward.

The first step can be the hardest but is also the most important.

Making that first step puts the whole thing in motion. And can be the ultimate trigger for what lies ahead.

Starting anything new can induce feelings of fear and can take a lot of your energy. Looking at it as small steps other than very large ones can help eliminate fear.

Going at the right pace means more than you can imagine. Going fast can lead to trip ups, and worse off can lead to starting over again.

Your future is yours to make, so today you should start building. Brick by brick will not only get you to the top of the staircase, but a sense of gratitude that you made it so far.

  • Social media has become the most addictive substance around. Having something takeover our lives is never a good thing. If your days and nights can be dominated by scrolling through social media, you may have a problem. This is when some time away can do you some good. Here are some benefits of a social media cleanse:

More Time For Other Activities- With so much time spent on social media, we can barely find time for other things. When you decide to cleanse, you will open up yourself to new activities. An example may be: taking a hour of that free time to start exercising. Social media can be a time suck, but a cleanse can bring that time back to you.

Stop The Comparison Trap- When we get on social media, we can’t help ourselves to compare. If our feed is filled with people seemingly living their best life, we wonder what we are doing wrong. Just know, everybody is just showing the best parts of their lives. People rarely post about anything bad happening to them. When we choose to cleanse, we stop the comparison and start to see life in a different light. You can start to feel better about yourself with a simple cleanse.

Increase In Productivity-Without the distractions of social media, you will start to see your productivity improve. You get to have the time to actually start doing the things you been putting off. Not worrying about posting or checking on the latest trends will help clear some time in your schedule. With this extra time you can learn to become more productive, and begin to get your life in order.

All in all, a social media cleanse will give you an incredible boost in life, period. How long you spend on your cleanse is up to you. It can be as short as a few hours or as long as a week. Just being more mindful of your social media time can have huge benefits. Your mental health will thank you.

This Christmas, decide to put your phone down and spend quality time with your family and friends. Being social in person is a 100 times better, so ditch social media just for a few hours and experience the beauty of good company.

    Merry Christmas!!!

  • Everything in life worth achieving will not be easy. If you believe it is, you are starting in a bad state of mind. Knowing you have to do the hard work will get you toward the right mindset. Here are some places where hard work is needed:

Workplace- You will never really hear stories of anyone advancing in their career without hard work. You won’t get looked at for promotions when you go into work and do the bare minimum. It’s the person that works their ass off that gets the recognition.

The Gym- If you want to reach your fitness goals, you must have the willingness to do hard work. Gaining muscle or losing weight is a task you can’t come in slacking. You can’t just be going through the motions, you must be in complete focus. You must put in your full effort to get the results you strive for.

Home- Keeping your home in good condition takes hard work, especially with children. Caring for the people in your home is not an easy feat. You must juggle a lot of different responsibilities to keep your home in order.

School- Learning new skills and ideas can be challenging and takes hard work. School can’t be some place you go to, and hope for the best. You must be willing to put in the work of studying, preparing, and being attentive in class. The extra hours of work you put in will separate you from the rest.

These are just a few of the many that require hard work. You can’t bypass or pass it off to anyone else. It falls on you to do the work, it’s your responsibility. You can’t skip the hard work, no excuses.

  • We hear it all the time, “He’s a talented this” or “She’s a talented that.” These can seem like great things to say but it’s some negativity in that.

These simple sayings can make many feel like they’re not talented at anything. This can be a real handicap and can build a belief that if you’re not born with it, you can’t become it.

If you find yourself feeling this way, the cure is hard work. Being willing to work hard on a skill beats talent.

Putting your all in to gain a new skill is your secret weapon. The never ending debate of, nature vs. nurture, is won by how much work you put in.

It’s no limit to what you can accomplish with some hard work and dedication.

Look around you, the evidence is everywhere, hard work is the key to success, not talent.

Your goal this week- Don’t beat yourself up if the first time you do a thing, you don’t get it right away. It’s in the repetitions, doing something over and over, that you get to mastery. Don’t worry yourself about talent, be more focus on the work. It may not be easy, but the hard work will make you better at the end of the day.

That’s it for Monday Motion, remember you don’t need motivation, you just need to keep moving forward. Let’s go out and tackle the week ahead.

  • As the weekend is approaching here’s a quote that should keep you focus.

“Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.” – James Baldwin

James Baldwin nailed it with this quote. We waste a lot of energy telling our kids not to do this or that, but our actions speak louder than words.

When we say one thing, but do something else, our words will seem to go in one ear and out the other.

Your kids will follow your lead, so it’s important to show the right virtues.

Your actions will always have more impact than your words, so it’s your actions that need more of your attention.

This weekend, be more mindful of your actions. Be more intentional with what you are doing. If not for yourself, for your kids, or the kids that are around you.

You can be the main reason why they become the person they are. Make sure to make that person someone who will influence the next generation. And this can go on and on, you can be the catalyst.

Have a great and blessed weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday.
