In a study that examined the facial expressions of Olympic competitors, something odd stood out. The bronze winners reaction was more joyous than the silver medal winners.
They came to the conclusion that being second place left you looking upward of success you almost had, while the third place winners was focus more on what they avoided, which was to leave with no medal at all.
This came as a surprise to me, because I figured 2nd place was a great spot to be at, but this was not the case. What happened is that they felt like just the first loser.
This is when it becomes important to love the process, not just the wins. When you love the process you feel satisfied because you did everything possible.
The early mornings and late nights become what you are truly proud of. The pushing yourself when you didn’t feel like it, is really the highlight.
