When you begin exercising, following a program everything seems to be going smoothly. Then that week comes when you feel like you’re not making progress.

You can’t lift any heavier, you can’t beat your previous mile best, you just feel stuck.

This is a plateau, and if you trained long enough you will eventually hit one.

The first thing you need to understand is this is normal, everyone goes through it. The second thing is it will eventually end, you just need to approach it differently.

Your goal here is to stay positive and keep going, don’t use this as an excuse to throw all your progress away. Instead try new things, new exercises, new rep ranges, new set counts, change your sleep and nutrition habits, experiment with these and see where that leads to.
